How does my scholarship get paid?

Co-op Scholars receive payments on a fortnightly basis deposited into a nominated account.

What do I do if my contact or bank details change?

Please contact the Co-op office ASAP if your bank details change. Payments are processed two weeks in advance of being deposited into accounts so make sure you give the Co-op office sufficient notice of any changes or there may be a delay for the following payment.

Do I have to do anything before my first IT?

All first year Scholars must attend the IT Induction Workshop held in second semester which the Co-op team provides to prepare Scholars for their first placement.

Scholars are expected to contact the Sponsor at least 6-8 weeks before Industrial Training to discuss the date of commencement and the proposed program for their Industrial Training. Immediately prior to this time, Scholars should send the allocated Sponsor a resume outlining their previous work/ Industrial Training experience, the subjects they will be studying while on Industrial Training (if applicable) and outlining their personal objectives for the Industrial Training.

More information on IT expectations can be found in the IT Guidelines.

What happens if I fail a subject or I drop below a credit average?

Co-op Scholars who do not maintain the academic standards of the Co-op Scholarship as stated in your Scholar agreement will be called before a steering committee to explain the lapse. Without sufficient cause, Scholars can lose their scholarships.

Do I get paid the same amount while I am on IT?

Scholars receive the same amount whilst on IT as they do during periods of study. (Except Mining Engineering, see Programs of Study)

Am I entitled to leave whilst on IT?

No, Scholars are not entitled to any leave whilst on placement. Scholars are expected to complete the full placement duration and make up anytime taken off due to illness or other commitments.

More information on IT expectations can be found in the IT Guidelines.

Do I have to do a Scholar Presentation at the end of IT?

Many Scholars are required to do a presentation at the end of their IT placement in order for their Academic Co-ordinator to award a satisfactory mark for the placement. Please speak to your Academic Co-ordinator about what steps are required to evaluate your placement in your program.

If you do hold an end of year presentation, don’t forget to invite the Co-op Program team.

Who do I give my IT reports to once my IT is complete?

It is your responsibility to make sure copies are given to both your Academic Co-ordinator and the Co-op Office. We also advise you to keep a copy for your own records.

How can I update my transcript after IT?

Scholars need to complete and/or submit all forms of evaluation required by your Academic Co-ordinator before your transcript is updated. If you have taken these steps and your transcript is not updated, please contact your Academic Co-ordinator.

Can I go on exchange?

Yes, many Co-op Scholars go on exchange during their studies. Scholars can go on exchange during a semester when it will not effect their Co-op Program commitments.
