2019 Co-op Scholar Induction

26 Mar 2019

As the screen came to life in Leighton Hall on Friday 8th March, with pictures and snippets of past and current Co-op scholar triumphs and achievements, a ripple of excitement passed through the newest recruits to the UNSW Co-op Program. The seventy-seven 2019 Co-op scholars were inducted into the Program under the proud gaze of their families, High School Principals, teachers and program Sponsors.

As a special nod to the celebration falling on International Women’s Day the scholars were treated to valuable insights from Christine Kennedy, Co-op BIT alumna, former CIO and now a Partner at EY in financial services technology advisory.  Christine drew on her 27 years of IT experience across the Financial Services industry (including Investment Banking, Retail Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management and Insurance) and her ongoing personal journey with the Co-op Program, as both a supporter and mentor to new Co-op scholars prior to their first Industry Experience, to bring a powerful and unique message to the audience. Her personal recipe for Continuous Growth, the 3 Cs: Curiosity, Courage, & Confidence.

Sharing the stage with Christine was one of the Program’s newest alumni and rising stars Darcy Small, who completed the Photovoltaics and Solar Energy program last year, launching a successful ethical coffee start up ‘The Bugisu Project’ which partners with a small Ugandan farming community, during his Thesis year.
